Thyroid Cancer Survivors Plan 6th International Conference October 24-26, 2003 in Houston, Texas

The 6th International Thyroid Cancer Survivors¡¯ Conference will take place October 24-26, 2003, at the Wyndham Greenspoint Hotel, 12400 Greenspoint Drive, Houston, Texas. The national voluntary nonprofit organization ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors¡¯ Association, Inc. <www.thyca.org> is the sponsor.

This educational and supportive conference offers more than 50 sessions for people with every type of thyroid cancer, including papillary, follicular, medullary, anaplastic, and variants. Presentations and roundtables are designed for people being tested for possible thyroid cancer, those newly diagnosed with thyroid cancer and in their early years following treatment, survivors of many years, and their family members and friends.

Endocrinologists, surgeons, nuclear medicine physicians, a pathologist, and a palliative care physician will address issues ranging from diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up testing to research advances and future trends in thyroid cancer care.  An informal, give-and-take format will give participants the chance for in-depth discussion of issues related to thyroid cancer care.

Workshops led by mental health professionals, attorneys, other specialists, long-term survivors, and caregivers will focus on quality of life, well-being, health insurance and employment issues, caregivers¡¯ needs, and the perspectives of long-term thyroid cancer survivors.

Registration material and conference details are available on ThyCa¡¯s web site. For more information about the conference and about ThyCa's free year-round support and education services, e-mail to thyca@thyca.org, call toll-free 1-877-588-7904, or visit the web site at www.thyca.org.
